Description
The Jerusalem Wall Hanging by Avi Luvaton is a contemporary artwork that brings beauty into the home while evoking King David’s timeless words: “If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget itself.”
The tradition of leaving an unfinished area on a wall in a Jewish home serves as a reminder of Jerusalem and the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash. The sages taught that any moment of joy should be accompanied by a Zecher l’Churban—a remembrance of the destruction—because without Yerushalayim and the Beit Hamikdash, joy cannot be complete.

Crafted from two fragments of Jerusalem stone and gold-plated brass, this piece features the word “Jerusalem” in golden Hebrew letters, rising beautifully from the broken stone as a symbol of hope and salvation.
Avi Luvaton’s commemorative artwork reflects the coexistence of light and darkness, life and destruction.
